New Moon Rituals + this New Moon in Sagittarius on 11.23.22
We love working with the moon cycles here at Bätn-ē.
There is something primal and instinctual about working with this energy. Every month we are gifted with a new moon that allows us to reset and set our intentions and goals for the next month. We plant these seeds in the “dark” and as the moon continues to illuminate, we gain insight and clarity towards the culmination of those realizations on the full moon.
Understanding what astrological placement the moon falls into during this time helps you direct your focus even more pointedly, and adding that element into your ritual.
What to do during a New Moon:
Set the tone. I suggest this because when you have a process to your new moon ritual, it’s easier to get into this habit. You are signaling to your mind and body what you are about to do. For me, this is lighting a candle and incense, putting on some soft instrumental music, making a cup of tea, setting some crystals nearby, and having my journal and pen ready.
Write out your intentions and what you are wanting to bring into your life. This is also important when you look back at what you’ve been calling in. I love to see what has come to fruition, and as I grow and evolve I often use my past writings to revisit and revise.
Work with an affirmation. What is the theme of what you are hoping to bring more of into your life? This is when I like to feel what I am planning to call in. I see it as my current reality, and I allow that to flood my being. Take that, and embody this and create your “I AM” statement. For example, '“I AM in alignment with my purpose.”
Gratitude. Finish writing by expressing how grateful you are for what is coming into your life, and for the blessings you already have.
Incorporate a bath or shower. The moon is linked to water, and this is a way to refresh, purify, and release the work you have just done. Check out our bathing ritual post on IG below:
What does this New Moon in Sagittarius mean coming up on November 23rd?
This is going to feel good, like really good. Coming out of the very heavy eclipse cycle we just did during Scorpio season and now moving into the mutable fire sign of Sagittarius is going to feel much lighter and optimistic. Making this New Moon a perfect time to set your intentions.
Sagittarius energy is passionate, curious, adventurous, adaptable, and wild. So come up from the depths we’ve just been swimming in, and get ready to blaze a new path, but one of your creation. Be open (another thing that is great during the New Moon, pay attention to new opportunities that come up), and dream.
Sagittarius is ruled by Jupiter, the benefic planet of expansion, growth, silver linings and luck. Jupiter is also in a trine position with the New Moon. On the same day as this New Moon, Jupiter is wrapping up its retrograde, and will continue on in Pisces until the last week of the year. Revisit what you started the first six months of this year. This Jupiter retrograde from July 28-November 23rd was a time of fine-tuning that. So now that its stationing direct, you may feel an extra surge of clarity around this time as well as how you want to finish this year, and what you are hoping for in 2023. Jupiter will move into Aries the last week of December, which is big bold energy. So for now while it’s in Pisces continue to dream big, and be ready to take action moving into 2023 with that Aries/Jupiter energy.
Be mindful that given the duo of Sag with expansive larger-than-life Jupiter energy, you may feel pulled to do it all, and in excess, especially with the holidays approaching. Make sure you are checking in with yourself during this time.
Remember the process is just as important as the destination, so enjoy the adventure.
